Virtual Escape Room On Google Sheets

Having a pressing need to make something for your friends and show off your creative skills? The current pandemic has unveiled many opportunities to do that,one being  the creation of your own virtual escape room for your friends and family! This can unmask the Sherlock Holmes inside you, but this time around you are not the one solving but the a one making the room and deciding what has to be and what is not to be.

Virtual escape rooms on google sheets have caused a storm since they hit the markets. They are utterly divergent from the real escape rooms and the virtual web conferencing escape rooms. Such an escape room is played on google sheets via a quiz.

This concept is gaining popularity in many countries where online virtual escape rooms(web conferencing) are not able to reach and otherwise too, as you don’t have to spend any money on it and it can also be played individually. The only thing you need is some imaginative ideas to create one.

This concept was first introduced in the “Hogwarts digital escape room” which included all kinds of Harry Potter based questions, riddles and puzzles to solve and make it out of the room.

These rooms are usually not time bound but you can always find or create one if you want to challenge oneself.

This escape room via google sheets is rather very easy to form and will barely take an hour or two if you have all the resources .However, remember, to proceed into making the Quiz after you have your story line in hand; if not then first take a notebook and pen/pencil and jot down the story that would engross your audience in your escape room game.

How to create one!

Step 1: Open your Google Drive.

Step 2: Right Click create New

After right clicking the new button select “more” from the drop-down list and furthermore select “google forms” . By clicking “blank form” you will be redirected to a blank form where you will be able to create your own escape game.

Step 3: Click the setting button on the upper right corner of the screen

Step 4: Click Quizzes Option

After clicking the quizzes option enable make this quiz option only like shown above. We are doing this as you have to have right and wrong answers for people to solve your escape room.

 

Step 5: Start making your Quiz

You can use all the setting from the right tab like add questions, text, pictures, videos etc. and make your quiz more attractive.

Step 6: Different types of questions.

After adding your title, start making the questions which you can choose from the drop-down list provided.

 

Step 7: Click to section based on answer

After clicking on “required” to make sure this question is attempted click the three vertical dots beside the “required” option; there click “go to section based on answer”.

After clicking there add section from add two sections and title it as “wrong answers” and “right answers”. You can also add some descriptions if you want.

Step 8: Indicate the answer through sections

Click the option of “go to the section….” which goes to the right answer if the given option is right and otherwise for all the wrong answers.

If the answer is wrong choose from the drop-down list and choose “Go to section 1….” . If the answer is right click the submit form option.

Step 9: Add images

After clicking the add image option you can choose from a variety add image from wherever you like. However, it is recommend you to use google image search for better quality pictures, like the ones below. Do this for all the questions and sections for wrong answers and the right answers alike.

Step 11: Share the link

After finishing up your escape room with all of your distinctive and peculiar questions,riddles and puzzles you can share or “Send” the link by clicking the “Send” option on the top right section of the page where you were creating your escape room. You can share your link through email, link or an embedded link.

Step 12: Responses

You can check all the responses through the responses option next to questions.
